hello All,

I should move to Qatar next august to join my husband who already works there , I will apply for my child at school in January , i want to ask you please about the normal time between application and assessment , as my child goes to school here in Egypt , so she will need to take a vacation from school and fly to Qatar for the assessment, do they give enough time so that we can arrange flight and everthing??

thanks and regards

Dear All,

I didn't apply for EMS since one of my husband's colleagues told him her child is on the waiting list for 2 years now !! we will apply in chioufat as its fees are reasonable for us but that will be the maximum we can pay , also thinking of the Maghreb international school since also a Tunisian colleagues of my husband recommended it (we are Egyptian )

any advice or recommendations please?

thanks and regards,

Heba

No worries, We are here. If she needs some kids to speak in English with or practice something. You are welcome.

max_loss : we are thinking about applying in the 3 branches of English modern school since its nearly the only one suitable for our budget, we might as well apply in chouifat. but that's all I guess.

thank you all for your kind reply, I already called the school (English modern school ) and they said they will open for admission in January, so I'm preparing the required papers now and will send to my husband to apply for her, I also knew they open for only 2 days !! and if you go a bit late then its over. that's really stressful , but I hope we can find a place for her since we cant stay apart from my husband for another year , also can you please advise about the English modern school if you have any experience for you or any friends or relatives?

thanks a lot for your help :)

The schools here are horrible most of the time, it is almost business. If you are saying assessment this means it is an international or private school. So, their first answer to you will be: OK, we have available vacant seat. Then they will schedule the placement assessment. But they don't have announced standards. So the results are not guaranteed (but mostly she will get accepted in a school at least, depends on what type of school she is going in Egypt and type she will go here). I advice you may apply for more than a school. The other thing is that sometimes since many people applied for many schools. So, closer to the beginning of the academic year, many schools will have vacant seat then they will start calling people who are on the waiting list but they will give priority for whom really is available for assessment.

The thing is, you will have enough time like a week or so for the assessment, but it is mostly one fixed date and no other choice.

You may arrange the visa now which will take 2-3 days. Once, they call for assessment, book your tickets which is cheap from Egypt. Still, apply in more than a school.

Good luck Mrs. Heba
