Josoor Institute Delivers Security Programme for MoI Delegates
Doha, Qatar – 10 December, 2015: Josoor Institute, a centre of excellence for the sports and events industries, inspired and developed by the Supreme Committee for Delivery & Legacy (SC) delivered this week a two day executive development programme on spectator services. The programme, titled “Spectator Services: A Senior Manager and Director Viewpoint (for Security Services)” was focused on security and safety services at event venues. This was the second edition of the programme and was dedicated exclusively to the Ministry of Interior’s (MoI) senior management delegates.
Over the recent years, Qatar has built a strong reputation as an events host by accommodating a range of global sports championships in addition to international conferences and summits, in the likes of the 2012 UN Climate Change Conference (COP18) and the 2015 International Petroleum Technology Conference (IPTC). A number of major events are already scheduled for the coming years, such as the World Innovation Summit for Education (WISE), the 2019 World Championships in Athletics and the much anticipated 2022 FIFA World Cup™. In its preparations for hosting mega events, the State of Qatar is putting great effort not only in building the infrastructure and the venues, but also in developing the human capital and training the people responsible for the delivery of successful events.
MoI plays a crucial role for the success of any mega event in the country and is mainly responsible for the smooth operation of all the security aspects. The programme, which was dedicated exclusively to training the MoI’s delegates in all such aspects of spectator services, is part of Josoor Institute’s commitment to develop the local pool of talents. Topics such as spectator services, safety and security integration, event planning, crowd behaviour, incident planning and incident response, all tailored for the specific of the sports and events industries on the local and regional markets, were discussed at the programme.
The programme was delivered by Andy Young, Senior consultant at New Resolution and Ex-Senior Consultant at Wembley Consulting. For more details on Josoor Institute’s upcoming activities and programmes, please visit: www.josoorinstitute.qa
