Kashmir water has become the enemy of its own existence

Ganga, Jamuna and Indus Rivers originate in Kashmir, these rivers feed the huge populations of India, Pakistan and Bengladesh.

For the last 68 years, India and Pakistan have been fighting on Kashmir, in order to ensure water continuity for their lands. This dispute has made the Kashmiris, one of the poorest and most sufferers in the entire world, because none is seriously attempting to settle the issue via dialogue, and UNO too is maintaining silence on it.

While Ganga and Jamuna (Yamuna) rivers do not flow into Pakistan and have no impact on its economy, the Indus and several other rivers do. The Indus River along with several other rivers such as Sutlej, Beas, Chenab and Ravi have their sources in the Himalayas, pass through India and into Pakistan. As such, Pakistan is dependent on India to allow for the water to flow into its country through these rivers. Any stoppage or checks in their flow would definitely have an direct impact on the Pakistan economy.

Equin0x, none of the rivers stated by you originate in Kashmir. Indus originates in the Tibetan plateau Controlled by China. Ganga originates from Gangorti Glacier and Jamuna (Yamuna) originates from Yamunotri Glacier in the Himalayas and flow through India. Kindly search google for further information.

Equin0x: There will be no nuclear clash. Both sides know very well the consequences. Nuclear weapons just act as a deterrent, that's all.

Kashmiri waters give life to the entire sub continent, and in reciprocation, reaps poverty and human sufferings. International community needs to understand this issue sooner than later due to its vulnerability for atomic clash.

The answer is quite simple - give Kashmir its independence. Both parties know that there is no longer any advantage in strategic high ground. The old days of warfare are gone. Neither Pakistan nor India can win a war. Their nuclear weapons ensure that there is a status quo and the MAD premise exists.

No, it is just not the water alone. Kashmir is also strategic from the military point of view. You have the Siachen Glacier located in Kashmir which lies about 6000 meters above sea level. It is currently the world's highest battleground. The armies of both India and Pakistan face each other even today where temperatures during winter could reach minus 30 degrees and wind speeds around 100 kms per hour. The pilots stretch their helicopters to the limit to drop supplies there which takes place only during a very short summer period. But even with these harsh conditions, the armies of both the sides are not willing to budge an inch. The problem of Kashmir will linger on and with rounds of talks taking place month after month, year after year, yielding zero results.

As far as water flows there wont be much issues,, when it started drained we will start fighting and FOXes (country's politicians) will make use of the chance.

A common need to trust nature and support nature than anything else for his peace and happiness. Rest all secondary.

This topic is common to all creature of this planet !

UN has its own agenda. For dialogue to work, there has to be a willingness on all parties to compromise. Clearly this is not the case here because public opinion is considered.

UNO is the worst international body. They serve the interests of the west and the US. That is what Ban Kee Moon is doing. But they don't realize that because of their actions, someday they will see stars. Its better to be honest to each other and resolve this issue between them rather than looking at UN. Afterall we are asians and we have good qualities. Never look at the west.

They can settle the matter by a continued dialogue, no matter what might come in their way.

well said. on dialogue issue i would disagree, as "none" is unvalid, there are many historic meetings and events where India is openly denying to talk on this issue. Apparently its believed that India has considering Kashmir as its own territory because of its presence by existing troops from the start. There was a UNO agreement on stop of 1947 indo-pak war, which is been violated since than. Itself UNO never wanted to get into it as its not in there interest, their interest seems only to keep the heat on both borders.
