Be wary doing business with an Aussie!
An Australian allegedly confined a Pakistani for 12 hours in a bathroom and threatened to kill his family back home if he did not return the money he had given him for investment, the Dubai Criminal Court heard.
On October 4, the victim LD, 54, along with the accused FN, 44, arrived in Dubai from South Africa where they were concluding a trade deal.
“We stayed in a hotel in JBR. On the following day, at around 3pm while we were discussing some deals, FN became angry, snatched my mobile phone, wallet and passport, and assaulted me.
“He pushed me into the washing room and locked the door. I begged him to release me but, after about an hour, he opened the door, hit me all over my body with a steel bar and locked the door again. Later, I asked him to open the door to go to the toilet. When he opened the door, I was hardly able to walk. I went back to the washroom and when he slept at around 3am, I got out, went to my room and slept,” said the victim.
The accused also threatened the victim with assigning people to kill his family members back home.
When the accused saw the victim sleeping in his room, he pulled out his belt and started slashing him on his head and body. Then he hit the victim with a chair in the room.
Later, the accused asked the victim to call friends back home to arrange the money for him.
The accused continued beating the victim while he was talking to some friends and asking them for money.
Friends informed the Australian consulate in Dubai who informed the police. Police raided the room and arrested the accused.
Police released the bleeding victim and rushed him to hospital.
The accused admitted to the crime before prosecutors but said that he had apologised to the victim for the way he had beaten him up.
The court will reconvene on January 21.
Moral of the story: Be careful who you do business with
this is unfortunate but they spent all that time in the toilet room and no body noticed???!!!! not sure about that... it would have been better if the younger guy realized what he was doing and apologized during the assault. apology is cheap...
Humbles , The issue was resolved ......... Youth was wrong ...... that's true but we need to see his soft side ...... he needs to be forgiven ........... let both of them compromise .......... & be friends again and do business together ............................................................
MM, How come u support the young guy, he didn't even care for the other person's age.
Plus u say the fellow knows what is right , that's not fair at all as u gave clean chit who hits his business partner.
It's very bad to fight when ur into a business deal & travelling together.
Why generalize that Aussies are bad people? Such people are around all over the world in all nationalities. In Qatar, a person of my nationality did not pay me my QR 8000 till today. Surely, I am not going to belt him, though I very much wish I could do so in the centre of a square.
Ica, Your doubt is genuine ............ There may be another reason as well ................
Sounds bogus to me
Another Moral : Never borrow Money You Cannot Return.
Brit, He knew what is right & what is wrong ............ we should appreciate his honesty ...............
Difference in the views is a normal between two souls ...................
MM: So you can beat the crap out of someone , apologise and go your merry way ?
Gentleman has already apologized ............ It's a good sign ..............
Partnership deal is legally a "Civil Transaction" where civil courts are responsible to do the justice in such cases. However the Australian made this civil deal into a criminal offense by hurling the physical assaults. He deserves the punishment and on the other hand, the victim needs to learn a lesson on making a "due diligence" before jumping into any business deal with a stranger, in future.
