Quality of Friday sermons in mosques to be improved
Minister of Awqaf and Islamic Affairs H E Dr Ghaith bin Mubarak Al Kuwari has issued a decision setting up an expert committee to lay down guidelines to improve the quality of Friday sermons in mosques in Qatar.
The panel headed by Sheikh Dr Thaqeem bin Saair Al Shamri, vice chairman of the Cessation Court comprises a number of Imams, preachers, researchers and specialists in Shariah studies, Qatar News Agency reported yesterday.
The committee will prepare a comprehensive study on how to streamline Friday sermons after giving a full description of the current status.
It will identify obstacles and difficulties facing the preachers in performing their duties and propose solutions.
The panel is tasked with developing standards and guidelines for improving the quality of Friday sermons and setting terms and conditions and criteria for selection of preachers and developing their skills.
The initiatives comes as part of a series of measures being taken by the ministry to improve its performance and achieve its mission through various communication channels. [The Peninsula]
