HIA named the “Best airport in the Middle East”
Hamad International Airport (HIA) has been acknowledged as the ‘Best Airport in the Middle East’ by the 2016 Skytrax World Airport Awards for the second consecutive year at a ceremony that took place during the Passenger Terminal Expo in Cologne, Germany.
According to The Peninsula, HIA also became the first in the Middle East to enter the World’s Top 10 Best Airports of the Skytrax World Airport Ranking.
It also won the award for Best Staff Service in the Middle East. The Skytrax World Airport Awards are the most prestigious recognition of quality for airports across the world.

Akbar Al Baker, Chief Executive, Qatar Airways Group, said: “Being named the Best Airport in the Middle East for the second year running is a major accomplishment for Hamad International Airport, the home of Qatar Airways.
He further added, “To be announced as the first airport in the Middle East to be listed among the top 10 world ranking airports is a great honour, and is testament to the satisfaction that global travellers feel when they are going places through one of the most advanced, and passenger-focused airports, in the world. While reading this news, one should not forget the deluge during the last heavy rain. As Nijesh4ever commented earlier, the long queues in immigration must be avoided to help the passengers. there shall also be different counters for elderly people and ladies with children.

It's recognized by Skytrax. That's not the world. That's just one organization probably as corrupt as FIFA.
Last time when I landed here I saw huge queue waiting to get stamping on the passport. In between that one of the staff who does the passport checking thing was passing useless jokes to other staff members and unfortunately for him no one was interested. Still he was wasting time of the staff members and creating headache for the passengers waiting long time in the queue. Some really take disadvantages of being a citizen of this country, but still its good to know that Qatar and its infrastructure is being recognized all around the world.
