Safety tips when using cleaning liquids
The Ministry of Interior (MoI) in a recent post on its social media platforms informed the public about safe handling of cleaning detergents and disinfectants.
In today’s world everything is commercialized and life in general, has become very competitive. A casual visit to the grocery store or any super market would reveal the number of cleaning liquids the market has come up with.
At least every hour or so, TV commercials show products under different names being used for various purposes like cleaning floors, kitchen surfaces, stoves, glass windows and doors, etc.
These cleaning fixes consist of harmful chemicals and according to the ministry’s post “negligence may lead to the occurrence of many household accidents that affect the family members, especially the children”.
Some are exposed to allergies as a result of contact with them, and it may cause poisoning as a result of mixing with the food.
The colourful packaging of such products can tempt some children to tamper with them and even to drink from it.
Hence, it is imperative to parents to follow carefully safety procedures required in dealing with detergents and disinfectants in order to avoid any such accidents, says MoI
# -Keep these materials in a safe place, away from the reach of children.
#- Use products in a well ventilated area to avoid inhaling their fumes.
#- Keep it in drawer well closed to avoid children's access to it.
#- Read the safety guidelines set forth in the enclosures to learn how to use it right.
#- Always wear gloves or some protective layer when handling such chemicals.
#- Use these materials in reasonable and appropriate amounts to avoid risks of high use.
