Penalty for early lessor contract cancelation
By aleiramjgg •
My company canceled my contract and I need to leave Qatar st the end of may. I notified to my lessor 3 months in advance and they replied me that I need to pay one month of penasty due early end of the contract, which finished at the end of September.
The contract that I signed has 16 pages and none of those did a mention of penasty for early termination.
My lessor is Tanween in Barwa City?
Can someone told me if this penalty fee is legal?
I appreciate your advice
is the drum still available?
Thanks for your advise I was not sure we're raise my complaint. I will approach to rent dispute people and I will let you know what happened. Thanks
No penalty can be imposed if the Tenant losses his employment and has to leave the country . This happened to few people and rental agreement was terminated without any penalty.
Pl. approach the authorities and lodge a complaint.
I think this is standard for Qatar... I don't think you can do much.
However, as the previous poster has suggested , it might be worth approaching the Rent disputes people..
I think u need to approach RENT dispute office in Government Services Complex.
There are two things that you must note: First, if your contract has been registered at the Labour Office. If yes, the contract is a legal document and is binding on both parties. In this case, if there is no such clause in the contract with regards to penalty, then it becomes illegal for the company to penalize you. You can seek assistance from the Human Rights Committee and they will guide you. Take a copy of your contract to them when you go there. You may be advised to seek the assistance of the Labour Office.
