My Sponsor is not getting me my ID and he has my passport

I have been here in Qatar for about 7 Months now, and have still not been able to get my ID. My Sponsor keeps giving excuses everyday, I have done my medicals and fingerprinting already though.
It has been very difficult getting my sponsor either by phone or even meeting him personally. He has my passport too.
Please advice me what my options are , and what steps I need to take to be able to go back to my country.

As hard as it may be you need to tell them that you are going to take this further if it's not sorted within say a month. He certainly cannot keep your passport that is against the labor laws here.
Your sponsor is a criminal punishable by the Laws of the State of Qatar. (At least on paper).
Are you getting paid ?
The best option is to go to the Human Rights Commision and also file a case at the Labour Court...
you should also contact your embassy and ask for their advice / guidance / support
