Man arrested for stealing jewellery and watches worth QR5m
The Criminal Investigation Department (CID) arrested an Arab national for stealing gold and diamond jewellery and watches worth QR5m from the residence of a citizen in Doha.
According to the Ministry of Interior (MoI), the arrest came after the CID carried out a probe into a complaint received from a Qatari national, alleging that his house was burgled while he was abroad.
Someone had broken into the house and committed the robbery, according to the complaint. The department immediately formed a search-and-investigation team to look into the matter.
The team collected evidence and listed suspects in the area where the complainant resides. Accordingly, one of the suspects was taken into custody for interrogation, during which he admitted to stealing from the complainant’s house.
The suspect said he had already sold a portion of the loot and kept the rest at his home. Many of the stolen items were later found at his residence.
The accused and seizures were referred to the Public Prosecution and it ordered his detention for four days pending investigation.
The CID has urged citizens and residents not to leave any money or valuables in their house while travelling outside the country. Instead, they should keep them in the bank, it has advised.
In case they face some difficulty in depositing such valuables in banks, people should inform the CID or the nearest police station about their travel period in order to facilitate monitoring of the area by security patrols, the MoI post said.

Wow, they'll actually arrange patrols if someone's on vacation; these are the perks of being a small and relatively safe place; I watch this cop show on rayyan tv and the alfazaa guys really comb the city and keep tabs on things; they even found me once when I went to an absolutely remote corner to tune my new car audio setup late at night...i was sure no one would bother me there but was dumbfounded when not one but two separate fazaa and lekhwiya patrols came there in the space of 15 mins... They found my presence very suspicious and ransacked the car but then had a good laugh and chat and left when I told them my reason for being there... They liked the audio system too :-)
All these stories are invented. MM told me that Qatar was safe. Why do the media always lie?
Well done to the security services ...
As Rizks often says: Please kep your valuables safe or better get a safe for your valuables
Well done for nabbing the man.
