Woqod urged to provide mobile petrol stations across Doha

Woqod urged to provide mobile petrol stations across Doha

With long queues in and around Doha's fuel stations becoming a common sight even late in the evening and the early hours of the day, vehicle owners have appealed to the Qatar Fuel (Woqod) authorities to expedite its plans for introducing mobile petrol stations across the city and surrounding areas.

Woqod had recently announced plans to provide mobile petrol stations in some localities.

The need for such facilities increased after a number of petrol stations in Doha stopped operating in recent weeks, leading to massive queues at filling stations and causing long delays to motorists.

Narrating the difficulties they were facing at filling stations, some residents told Gulf Times that the situation was becoming worse.

The residents said they were often forced to stay awake until late at night to get their cars filled as a visit to a petrol station at other times of the day would lead to long delays due to the serpentine queues there.

For those who cannot stay up until the late hours, the other option is to visit a petrol station around 2-3pm when it would be relatively less crowded, according to some motorists.

However, this would mean venturing out when the temperature is at its highest during the day, they point out.

Vehicle owners said the authorities could consider setting up temporary or mobile stations along some of the less populated areas in Doha city as an immediate solution to the problem of crowded petrol stations.

For instance, people are demanding new petrol stations in areas such as Al Thumama and Mesaimeer, and along F-Ring Road.

With the closure of a number of petrol stations in different parts of Doha, several long stretches of roads in the city are without any filling station. These include parts of the arterial D-Ring Road and C-Ring Road, among others.

I use the Karwa bus -- no hassle for the fuel, no worries about parking, no fear of traffic violation, cheap on the pocket, free music and songs, free news on the radio, and time to catch up on sleep should I have not slept well the night before! )-0

Horrible absolutely horrible the petrol station scene; I fill only on weekends or other days when I'm up in the wee hours of the morning...

They will not recognize the effect of climate change until it's too late. And then they will start crying.

some people leave there cars on for HOURS with out know one in the car just to keep the cabin cool when they return. There should be a law against this, as this action tramdously damages the environment.

Truly said by britexpat.. I have seen many simply wasting fuel by keeping their vehicles on unnecessarily. Yes the fuel price is less here, but that does not mean you waste it. Does anybody care for the environment? See how climate change is effecting our lives. At least care for your children's future.

Lots of activities whilst waiting in queue.. True - Rizks and I play "I Spy" or "Patience" ..

There is an aside.. As you wait in your car for petrol, you burn fuel , which in turn causes damage to the environment but puts money into the pockets of the oil companies ..
