Housemaid arrested
Our live-in housemaid was not feeling well so we took her to Hamad. There they told us that it will be a very long wait and we will call you once she has been treated. This was mid-day. At night we went again as we had not received a call. They told us it will still take another few hours. So again we went back home. We didn't get any call during the night. Early morning we went there again and were told that she was diagnosed as pregnant and has been taken by the police. We were also told that she had told the police that it was from her boyfriend. We were not given any call or instruction. What steps do I need to take as her sponsor? We have her ID card and passport. It has been 4 days now.
Any advice based on previous experience would be highly appreciated.
Wonder what the nationality of the maid?
Muad, Ask a gold smith , he will tell you after taking heat & strikes gold becomes more precious , this vacation talk to an iron smith ........ he will tell to give shape he has to hit hard at the red hot iron ....... if iron & gold won;t like to be shaped / corrected / faults removed ...... their value will be very less ........ so for adding value to Brit & Accha ........ we need to hit them for their benefit ........
Oh, So they ve out sourced the anger now ? .............
Feel free to press 'report' and then respond with multiple nonsense posts
I'm out for the day anyway
Molten .. You have some serious issues my pal.. Rather than admitting that your advice may have not been valid (we are all human) , you go on the attack and abuse others

Brit & Accha, Are you smarter than authorities ? ......
Do you think police would not have informed her embassy till now ?
I am so sure none of you both can tell us what the embassy would do even after getting the info from the police ?
Good Accha admitted that he does not know anything after writing his trademark half dozen essays .......... total loss for Dala ..............
Frankly, from what I understand, there is nothing much you can do from your side as the entire matter is now in the hands of the authorities. I do not know if you would be able to cancel your sponsorship at this stage but I doubt it very much. Just let the law takes it course and wait for the outcome. Possibly, the police may inform you of the outcome as you are the sponsor but again such incidents don't take place very often here and as such I am at loss to provide you with any reliable information. However, as Britexpat has suggested, do inform her embassy with a copy of her passport and may be they would be able to guide you better on this matter.
Just take steps that you are in control of
first contact the Embassy
They may have means of then you communicating with the police
Accha: that is what I assumed as well. Still, other than informing her embassy, what else should I do? Some suggested cancelling my sponsorship. Will the police ever inform me in this entire process? Am I expected to do something? Those are the still unanswered questions.
delay1: The embassy of the lady will get involved sooner or later and this will be done by the authorities. If illegal pregnancy has taken place as this case possibly appears, there is nothing much you can do as the entire matter is in the hands of the authorities now and will go through the legal process. Possibly, the boyfriend would soon be getting arrested, and both of them would face trial, some jail term if proved guilty, and then deported.
Good luck .. Hope it all works out !
Without going into details I just wanted to put this thought about there being a mistake to bed. There is no possibility of that. Thanks for the concern and comments though regardless.
Brit, We don't know in what condition she gave her statement, you see the language gap & confusion when our health is not okay, plus there might be so many people with uniform ........ all this enough for a common girl to say yes , yes or no no ......... without understanding the meaning of what is being asked .... thinking that we will go home after answering some queries ..................
MM and AmAm are correct - As will be Quicky, Humbles and Rityal2Rupee..
The Hospital must have made a mistake and the maid must have mistakingly told the p;olice that it was her boyfriend who impregnated her..
As an aside - The fact that she has admitted to having a boyfriend will probably be cause enough to have her deported..
So, please contact her embassy first
MM: If your "lovely thoughts" were true, the whole system that is in operation right now, would go up in smoke!
MM has a valid point, we ve seen a brain surgery on a wrong patient at a place which is 11000 KM away.
Accha / Brit , There is a room for mistakes even at top clinics of the places you mentioned be it US or UK ........ we can never rule out a human error ........ it's our girls life , we must ask for a confirmed re-test ..... we trust our girl ........ may be test report got mixed up with a house wife ? ...............
Thanks for the comments. "Approach the authorities" sounds good in theory but how? Where? If they have not deemed it fit to contact me I am not sure how they will react if I approach them. I am assuming they can easily obtain my phone number by checking through the housemaid's ID from Hamad registration info.
At the moment I'm leaning towards taking the embassy route first and see what they say.
Approach her embassy first and see what they say
MM: This is a serious issue. The government labs here are managed by professionals and not by school children. Where could that "proper test" with the right "testing equipment" be carried out? In India? In America? In UK? In Japan? Where....?
MM: Read the post first - she is IN police custody - so where is he going to do the test ?
Go for a proper test before coming to the conclusion ....... there may be an error on the lab side / technical issue with the testing equipment .......
The Police will contact you in due time.
However, she needs your help. So, find out from the hospital which police station they took her to .
Also contact her embassy and ask them for advice / help
Good Luck
Very unfortunate , better approach the authorities & try to meet & give her support ............. ......
