Traffic department urged to crack down on ‘noisy’ bikes, cars

The Traffic Department should intensify patrols, especially late at night, to catch people who create disturbances at residential neighbourhoods with 'noisy' bikes and cars, the Central Municipal Council (CMC) urged on Tuesday.

Sophisticated technology should be used to detect whether the vehicles exceed the acceptable noise levels and spot the violators, it was recommended, according to the Gulf Times.

At its regular biweekly session, the council also reviewed a number of other recommendations aimed at curbing the phenomenon of noisy vehicles used by some young people for ‘show rides.’

CMC member Sheikha Al Jufairi, who raised this issue earlier, has discussed it with some senior traffic officials.

The council heard though the phenomenon was curbed at most areas, ‘noisy’ motorbikes still persist, especially at some key tourist areas in the country. Some members pointed out that the noise produced by motorbikes is more than that of cars.

Build a race track that can host professional racing events and drift events periodically under supervision, basic fees for walk-ins under strict rules and regulations for safety but you can still have fun. People are bored they want to let endorphins/testosterone out so they do it through racing on the streets, I don't blame them. Great move though, Ain Khalid/Abu hamour/armex and safari mall area 3 am tesing their mufflers.

Nope my car is quiet and I would never disturb people in a residential area at night...i even turn my music down when I come home late at night... I'm a good boy... Jokes aside, the bikers really are a problem... There's a guy who races through our neighbourhood late at night every night and I'm just waiting for the day I happen to get hold of him... Attention seeking losers most of these guys...

It's only a suggestion from the Council, brit. Nothing will happen. It would only hurt locals!
