Terminated by the company after submitting resignation letter
Hi guys. I hope you doing well.
If an employer terminates your contract with "unsatisfactory performance" being a reason after you actually submitted your resignation letter - does it mean they still pay your flight home, final salary and gratuity? I've been working for almost 2 years for my company in Doha and was actualy unpleasantly shocked to receive the termination, so no reasons for unsatisfactory perfomance here. Any input or thoughts, previous experience will be much appreciated. Thanks in advance.

Dear Sir,
Before wasting any time report to National Human Rights Committee: NHRC
Now NHCR is under Ministry of Interior therefore police is managing it. They will call your company owner to report to them.

Thanks a lot to everyone who has commented in this thread.
I am now trying to make a back-up plan as I have a very good reason to think they might try NOT to pay me any of my dues.
Has anyone been to Ministry of Labour/Human Rights commission or spoke to a lawyer about something similar? I have been looking for a lawyer here but law firms in Doha seem to only consult companies, not individuals. Does anyone have contacts of a lawyer who does consult individuals on employment matters?
I am as humble as I can be in this situation Molten Metal, but thank you for your advice.
Simon, Talk to the senior manager, be humble, keep your tone down, explain your situation. Co operate with your boss to get max benefits ........ Do not spoil your relations, you may their help in the future ........ Do not delay ...........
HR specialist's,
Please kindly come forward to resolve this question. (Humble request)
Btw: As per my little knowledge, two year period is good enough to provide you a flight ticket to Home. Also they should pay gratuity as well.
If you have taken any loan or any other issue's with the company, We are not aware of.
I do not know they type of company you are working with. Therefore not in a position to give you a Direct action plan.
(Type of company means) - Whether they are professional / Rude / International company / Local company / Many manipulators around etc., All count
Dear SimonJo,
In any case, the company has to pay for your flight home, final salary and gratuity.
Rush to Human Rights commission, they will escalate it to labour court if it dos't get solved at their end or try good lawyer (but they are very expensive).

Mary
I suspected that too, Wunae, can they use it as an excuse for not paying my dues? By law they cannot, especially if nothing was mentioned to me before, can they?
Thanks guys
It has never been mentioned to me directly (in a meeting or email) or not that I heard of it from anyone, this is why came as a complete shock. Contract is quite vague and general, it's the one in 2 languages, English and Arabic, attested in the Ministry of Labour. Doesn't specify any termination information.
You *should* get your dues. But don't be surprised when they try to use this as an excuse to withhold what they owe you. Sounds like you might need to visit the labor court soon.
If they terminate you, should be provided with flight and salary and NOC .
It seems that they are trying to be awkward.. Unsatisfactory performance should hve been highlighted prior to termination..
Check your contract and see what it states ... sometimes companies include clauses to cover themselves..
Usually, even in such cases, the company should pay for your flight home and give you all your dues ..
Good Luck!
