Look up to see whether you can see the Ramadan moon today
Muslim faithful, who are ready for a month-long period of fasting and prayer, should look up to the skies tonight to try and spot the crescent moon, which will officially announce the arrival of Ramadan.
The Crescent Sighting Committee at the Ministry of Awqaf and Islamic Affairs (Awqaf) has called out to citizens to spot the moon after sunset.
The Committee, in a statement, said that anyone who spots the crescent moon should head to the ministry’s headquarters in Dafna to report the sighting.
The committee, which will meet immediately after the evening prayers, will then meet and announce the official date for the start of Ramadan.
Should the crescent moon be sighted today, then fasting will begin on Monday. If the moon is not sighted, the first day of fasting will be on Tuesday.
