Wadia, you've managed with 11k, imagine if your child was school aged. That would be difficult to manage. I applaud you and your husband resourcefulness.

Wadia: This is the beauty of QL... We all give widly differing advice .. The simple fact is that for the majority of expats here, this is a good and very liveable salary ..

Wow! Reading these comments scared me. My husband makes only 7000 and I would make 4000 at a nursery without possessing a college degree but we've managed. Although recently we've had our first child and it makes me nervous to know the potential of our circumstances here. Good luck anyway

Yep, need that small piece of info. as it is a big difference. Since you plan to bring family, you need to have a salary at least of 10K QAR per month. But even at that number unless you plan to have your wife work, it would not be advisable to bring them or even come for that matter.

So hope its a monthly salary.

Please clarify if you are speaking in monthly or annual terms. 30,000 QR monthly is very healthy and livable. 30,000 QR yearly, not so much.

It depends on your lifestyle sir. You may get a decent 3 bedroom flat in the main city for 9,000 QR, school (international) is a little bit expensive. But you may send them on less expensive ones. (or better negotiate your kids school to your company for scholarship) Food/Petrol/Utilities 5k-6k is enough. As I've said it depends on a persons lifestyle. Qatar is a great country. :)

30K/month is a decent salary for South Asians, Phillipinos and Africans. At the end of the day it depends on your living standard. I have seen people who are not satisfied even after getting 50K/month. And there are people who are happy with just 3000 salary.

While 30k is low, you can manage. Accommodations covered would be good, to include school is better to provide transport is the best.

If you are in the position to negotiate it could be worthwhile.

Muad-db: "Breathe the air of Qatar?" According to WT, it is one of the most polluted cities in the world, Yet he has been living here since 1993. I wonder how many times he landed in hospital here suffering from respiratory problems!

QGhani: Don't listen to negatives here my pal .. Take the first flight and breathe the air of Qatar - joys

It's reasonable .. You could spend 10k on accommodation ... So still very reasonable

"30.000/-" ? more than enough. thank god and accept it. but it wont be enough if you do unnecessary expenditures such as Lebanese ppl and other white westerners.

For someone from the East or Africa it is a very decent salary and one can manage very well. But westerners have their own slabs and I doubt if any westerner would work at this salary. By the way what do you mean by the term "scholarship?"

Accommodation is expensive. Try and get it covered. Then there is school fees, transport

What should added to it ? the scholarship separately ?

what else ?

Is the 30,000 salary or package ?

If that is the whole package I would suggest not.
