Ooredoo has resolved Internet connection problems, which affected many residents in Qatar, reported Gulf Times.

Around 3:30pm, many residents in the country took to Twitter to air complaints of slow Internet connection or difficulty accessing applications such as WhatsApp and Snapchat, and websites like YouTube or Facebook.

Some Internet users said they were able to go online an hour later but majority of the complaints still pointed to the lack of Internet access. Other residents, meanwhile, connected to a virtual private network (VPN) to gain online access.

According to Ooredoo, issues with an international link caused the slowdown.

In a statement sent to Gulf Times, Ooredoo said: “The Internet difficulties, which were caused by an issue with an international link, are now fully resolved.”

“Our technical team was able to trace the problem and resolve it under one hour, and have taken steps to prevent any re-occurrence. We apologise for any inconvenience caused and thank our customers for their patience,” a statement said.
