You need to sit there, even if they are not willing to arrange a short one/two minute meeting.
While sitting there, you would come in the notice of some of the managers while they pass by or via CCTV. And you have then the opportunity to meet them seeking for their guidance for a way forward.
Most of the companies receive the CVS in dozens every day, which they just file off, because they do not have so many people to read each and every CV, analyze and do the sorting and then contacting.
Walk-in interviews are the most potential method of finding a job. This is highly in practice in the USA, where the companies just post their vacancies at their reception and do the interview there and then.
Walk in Interview can be at their request or on your request, both ways, it works, just try.
Yes, it is easier to meet the right persons, but you need to use the right methodology. You can request the reception person to have a one minute meet with the HR person, while delivering your CV to them.
Also while looking for their location over telephone, you can request the receptionist to transfer the call to their HR department, the success may be 50% but that is not too bad.
If HR guy is busy, you can request to meet with the GM or any other person from the management, who are mostly able to help.
Mr EquinOx,
I have read some of the articles regarding job-hunt in middle east and most of them have something in common ,such as to signup with Bayt, widen the LinkedIn network, visit the HR in person and drop CV by hand.Is it possible to meet HR and drop CV by hand?
You need to change your methodology, here are a few of the tips:
1. Make a list of the companies that are hiring.
2. Get their contact numbers from the dirctory
3. Speak with them in order to find their location.
4. Go in person, speak with the HR official and deliver your CV.
5. Note down the name and number of the HR official for follow up on getting the date for interview.
6. Another method, that many use, is to pin point some of the buildings where the construction companies are located, visit them every day, and deliver them your CVS.
7. You can visit G.E.T. Company located in Al Muftah Center opp. Rumaila Hospital, since they are hiring and every day, people are visiting them.
8. In the same building you can find, Al Nakheel Landscaping, they too are hiring.
9. You can speak with Louis Berger Co.
10. You can visit Al Asmakh/Regency Business Center located behind old Mashreq bank in old salata area. In this building you would find Redco International, a Pak company and another company called "China Rail" both need people like you.
11. You can speak with El Emadi Enterprises, Mr. Amil, 66 950 667, who is hiring to build up his team for maintaining their in-house several properties.
12. Al Khebra Contracting Co is also looking for a person like you. You can speak with Mr. Bachu, the Nepali owner directly 33 66 36 75 77 815 000 seeking for meeting time, go and meet in person.
Sending out CV would have the same results that you have seen, so far.
Wait one more year . Get experience then apply
Just keep applying - don't give up
