Drive safely during Eid. Someone you love is waiting for you!
Eid Al Adha is usually a time when the celebratory mood tends to make one a little careless, especially while driving.
You get together with friends, go on a picnic, and seeing the open highway, accelerate hard. The speed gives you a rush of adrenaline, but you are flirting with danger. You are putting your life, as well as that of your friends, at risk.
Qatar’s Ministry of Interior has stressed the need for motorists to follow traffic rules in order to prevent accidents during Eid Al Adha holidays.
While the highways may be free, overcrowding and congestion can be expected in many areas, including beaches and shopping malls, during this period.
“We request all motorists to co-operate with security personnel and patrols, respect the traffic law and avoid wrong overtaking or using a mobile phone while driving,” the ministry said in a statement on its social media channels.
Motorists should also give pedestrians the right of way and never use parking places allotted for those with special needs, it added.
