Qatar's Sara Masoud creates history at Rio Paralympic Games
Qatar’s Paralympians are doing the country proud.
For the second time in as many days, a Qatari athlete finished on the podium of the Paralympic Games at Rio de Janeiro.
Sarah Masoud claimed silver in women’s shot put F33 event, thus becoming the first female athlete from the country to do so.
She threw a distance of 5.39M to clinch second spot. Algeria’s Bojedar Asmahan (5.72M) and the UAE’s Sarah Al Sinani (5.9M) finished in first and third places.
The Qatar Olympic Committee had tweeted a short bio of the athlete prior to leaving for Rio.
