Family of Irish teacher killed in Qatar keeps his name alive through charity work
The family of an Irish teacher, who lost his life during a dune buggy accident in Qatar, is keeping his memory alive through a ‘charitable organisation’ set up in his name.
Since Eamonn Morgan loved children and lived for them, the charity is also aimed at their welfare, his brother Declan told The Irish News.
Eamonn, 24, and his friend Charlotte Sant, from Manchester, had passed away due to injuries sustained in a dune buggy accident, that overturned in the desert in June, 2015.
The duo, who were both physical education teachers at schools in Qatar, died when the vehicle veered out of control off a steep incline.
Following the tragedy, his family and friends established the Eamonn Morgan Trust to highlight his dedication as a teacher and a coach to children, particularly from underprivileged backgrounds.
It also aims to celebrate his love and passion for sport.
“The Eamonn Morgan Trust was set up by one of his friends last August and at the time after our bereavement, we didn't know it was happening. But from there, it’s gone from strength to strength and has become a charitable organisation,” said Declan.
The trust has supported a street children's shelter in Zambia in partnership with local charity ‘Friends of Africa’ and is helping sports clubs in the heart of the community that Eamonn grew up in.

Hats off to the friend for keeping their memory alive and helping the needy. May they rest in peace
