Hello everybody,

So, I'm currently at a very hard time in my life where I have to choose an engineering major that I will be studying and working as for the next 3 decades or so. Just to give you a background, I'm already in engineering school and I was told that I will have to choose an Engineering major to study in fall 2017.

I'm looking for help from Employers and from Engineers, what do you think is the best engineering major in Qatar? Which Engineering major wouldn't be a trouble when it comes to finding a job, and what Engineering major pays well in Qatar?

I'm really interested in computer engineering; however, when doing my research, I found that computer engineering jobs are not that common in Qatar or most Middle easten countries due to computer engineering being more involved with hardware and not software. can somebody confirm or deny this?

I also wanted to ask about the Professional Engineering license in Qatar, Does Qatar require a PE license when it comes to Engineers?

Looking forward to hearing your thoughts

Best to study the field that interests you so you will be motivated to learn.

In Engineering tends to be cyclic with different disciplines being in demand at different times. If one year, Civil engineering is in demand, there will be a lot of recruitment and after a few years there will be oversupply.

PE license is not essential to practice as an engineer, but is required if you need to sign and stamp documents for authority approval.
