Hotel reservations are no longer compulsory for on-arrival visas, says MoI
Qatar has been doing a lot to improve the flow of tourists to the country in recent times.
The measures included making entry visa-free for people from certain countries as well as giving others visa-on-arrival facilities. People have welcomed these initiatives with open arms.
Now, the Ministry of Interior has made things even simpler by announcing that hotel reservations or other conditions are not compulsory for obtaining different types of on-arrival tourist visas in Qatar, reported Gulf Times.
However, the report also clarified that visitors may be asked to provide the address of their place of stay in Qatar, adding that general conditions for getting on-arrival tourist visas are six months’ passport validity and a confirmed return or onward ticket.
Qatar had recently introduced different types of visas including on-arrival, e-authorisation and e-visas.
The 90-day on-arrival tourist visa (for citizens of 34 countries) has a validity of 180 days with a multi-entry option and is not extendable, while the 30-day visa (for nationals of 47 countries) can be extended for another 30 days, which can be done online through the MoI website.
To explore the visa options available for different nationalities, one can visit the MoI visa portal at https://portal.moi.gov.qa/qatarvisas/

arun: buddy, that's what i was trying to explain to the other guy who commented; the rules are clear from qatar's end; i agree with both of you and i do know people are being denied boarding in india; the only possible reasons i can think of are that either the indian authorities are being their usual incompetent selves or they really haven't received official intimation from qatar. It's possible they've received it now after a few initial cases. Here, check this link; it clearly mentions everything you need to know. Read the third question and also another one further down the list, about all airlines being accepted for travel and not just qatar airways...
mohdata: One of my colleague's mother came 2 weeks back from India. In Indian airport, they insisted of showing currency worth Qr 5000 per person at the time of check in.
iswariya: that's hardly Qatar's problem, is it? they have clearly listed the conditions and presumably informed Indian and other concerned immigration authorities; but we all know what a nuisance Indian authorities can be...
In India some airport not allowing without visa except Qatar airways
arun: no, the article clearly says just a passport validity of 6 months and a confirmed onward or return journey; no other conditions...
