Spanish giants Atletico Madrid’s captain Gabi Fernandez signs up for Al Sadd
Qatar’s top club Al Sadd landed yet another mega name in world football when they signed Spanish side Atletico Madrid’s captain Gabi Fernandez on a free transfer, reported Gulf Times.
While there has been no talk about his remuneration, Spanish website Football Espana put it at around €6m over the course of his stay.
Having come through the youth system at the Madrid-based club, Gabi spent four years at Real Zaragoza between 2007 and 2011 before returning to Diego Simeone’s side.
The central midfielder has amassed a total of 414 first-team appearances for the Europa League winners but has never been capped by Spain.
At Al Sadd he will team up with former Barcelona captain Xavi Hernandez.
