HH The Amir arrives in Zagreb, Croatia, for a two-day state visit
HH The Amir Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al Thani landed in Zagreb, Croatia, yesterday evening as part of a two-day state visit to the country.
The Croatian President’s Adviser for Foreign Affairs Dario Mihelin, Qatar’s Ambassador to Croatia Nasser bin Hamad Mubarak Al Khalifa and Croatian Assistant Minister of Foreign and European Affairs Ivana Zivkovic welcomes HH The Amir’s delegation at the Franjo Tudman International Zagreb Airport, reported Gulf Times.

HH The Amir’s visit is being undertaken as part of Qatar’s efforts to inform world nations of their independent policies, to build and fortify the nation, strengthen its structure in all sectors and open new avenues for Qatar’s economy.
Sheikh Tamim is expected to discuss with top Croat leaders about ways to boost and develop bilateral relations in various fields. A number of agreements and MoUs in different fields are also scheduled to be signed.
Diplomatic relations between Qatar and Croatia were established in December 1992 and Qatar’s Embassy in Zagreb was inaugurated in early 2013. Croatia opened its embassy in Qatar at the end of 2012.
In 2009, HH The Father Amir Sheikh Hamad bin Khalifa Al Thani and HH Sheikha Moza bint Nasser had paid an official visit to Croatia.
In May 2012, Qatar Airways began operating direct flights to Zagreb, which has now reached 10 flights a week.
Croatia is looking to set up an LNG plant on the island of Krk, which would help the country become an important player in the European gas market.
There is also scope for investment in electricity generation, agriculture and tourism in Croatia.
