URGENT: WHERE and HOW can I report a school in Qatar that abuses children

I was a teacher at Doha International school in Rawdat Al Nazwa Street (not the same school as ACS Doha International School) and I resigned shortly because this school uses violence against children.

1. Beating the Children

The school frequently beats children (especially 3 & 4 years who can't complain) and encourages teachers to beat them. For example, the principal told me "watch if nobody is watching you, then hit the child".

Methods for beating the children include: long rulers, AC remote, and hands.

2. Yelling so Harshly on the Children

Teachers yell so loudly and harshly on children that I myslef get scared even though I am an adult. As for the 3-4 year old children, they get so scared that many of them cry and tremble in fear.

3. I get Yelled at for Showing any Gentleness with the Children

Whenever I treat the children with gentleness, the admistrators call it "spoilting" and yell at me for doing so. One time, I was being gentle with a three year old crying because it was his first day of school. Once they saw me, they yelled at me in fornt of my students for doing so then yelled at that child until he stoped crying because of fear.

4. The Children are not Allowed to Move for FOUR hours

After four hours of sitting still in a chair, the children have only 15 minutes break. If any child tried to move or talk during these four hours, he would either be beaten or yelled at.

4. Neither the Children nor the Teachers are Allowed to Touch the Toys in Classroom

The toys in the classroom are not for children to play with or for the teachers to use it for explanation. They are just for parents to see that the school has toys. It is forbidden to touch them. Therefore, the classroom has low resources and is very boring.

As for the board, the school still uses chalk to write on it.

Finally, please help me save those children by reporting this school. If you need any further information, please contact me in a private message and I will give you more details.

You can check ministry of education website. They have a portal where you can make any complains. I’m feeling very bad for those poor children. Even there is a cultural difference this harshness shouldn’t be tolerated.

Pioneer: no, she's talking about 3 year olds and it's never ok to physically punish kids that little; i know what you're saying about cultural variations and i too come from a 'tough love' culture; but there are always limits and going by what she's saying; the line is being crossed here...

It is a matter of cultural difference. Even when I was a kid, I used to get severe beating and yelling and the like..and I donot consider it an abuse then and now also... Have you seen the egyptians talk..a little bit loud, Indians will feel the egyptians talking ..like they are fighting..No..it is difference of culture...

I'd suggest the supreme education council under which all schools come; and buddy you better be sure that every word you just wrote here is true and without exaggeration; i hope not but you could get in trouble for having publicly named the school rather than directly approaching the relevant authorities; best of luck and thank you for being nice to the little ones :-)
