Qatar beat Iraq 1-0 to set up a last-8 clash against South Korea in the AFC Asian Cup
Qatari players dug their heels in when it mattered the most and were rewarded with a place in the knock-out quarterfinal of the 2019 AFC Asian Cup, currently underway in the UAE.
In a tight match, they defeated 2007 Asian champions Iraq 1-0 to progress to the quarterfinals. They will next face South Korea, who earlier beat Bahrain 1-0 in the other pre-quarterfinal.

South Korea, on the other hand, won the title in 1956 and ’60 before finishing as runners-up four times (’72, ’80, ’88 and ’15).
