Hello I am moving to Qatar from Jeddah - Saudi Arabia, and would like to know how can I ship my furniture there.
Due to the current situation (bloackade) can anyone tell me how can I move my furniture, which companies can help me in that, and how much does it cost.
I hope you made your move to Qatar successfully! I was in a similar situation 6 months ago and was shipping from Khobar to Doha. Here is my story:
I needed to ship everything anyway from Saudi Arabia as there were no buyers due to the current exodus situation. I decided to transport everything to my home country.
Total weight in cargo was 850 kg and was delivered door to door for around SAR 3100.
After I moved to Qatar, I visited many shops and tallied the cost of the remainder items I wish to ship back here. The cost was cheaper to ship 150 Kgs of personal effects than buying them outright. (I was shipping from Lahore so it was cheap in my case).
Coming back to the question:
1. Shipping items from Jeddah to Doha will cost you double than normal shipping as it can only be done via intermediate route. (JED to Qatar Friendly Country to Qatar).
2. I only did this because the cost of shipping was less than the value of goods.
I am now preparing to clear the goods in Doha once they arrive here very soon. From forums, I reckon it isn't a hassle to clear the items yourself.
I hope you are now settled here and best of luck for your future.
Couple of things: First of all why do you want to go through the hassle of bringing furniture all the way from Jeddah to Doha when you can get all you want here in Doha? Secondly, there is hardly any shipment taking place between Saudi Arabia and Qatar either by land or by the sea route. As such, there appears no way this can be done.
