Doha Islamic Youth Forum begins with focus on good governance
With the participation of young delegates from 56 Islamic countries, including 20 young people from Qatar, the Doha Islamic Youth Forum opened in Qatar yesterday.
Held under the motto “Youth is the power of the nation,” the five-day forum delves into issues such as youth and bet on sustainable development, youth and the safe use of social media, diplomatic simulation, and good governance and transparency among young people.
The forum is held in cooperation between the Ministry of Culture and Sports and the Islamic Cooperation Youth Forum (ICYF), under the supervision of Qatar Centre for Cultural and Heritage Events.
The conference serves as a platform for youth to come together and engage in enlightening discussions about issues significant to youth empowerment.

The forum opened yesterday with a general workshop titled, Good Governance and Transparency among Young People.
Amal Al Kuwari, Head of the Control and Development Department at the Administrative Control and Transparency Authority, Hussein Ibrahim al-Haj Masoud, expert at the Planning and Quality Department at the Ministry of Culture and Sports, and Hussein Mahmoud Hassan, acting Director of the International Co-operation Department at the Ministry of Culture and Sports were among the participants of the workshop.
The workshop underlined concepts of good governance and transparency, and the most important ideas presented by the forum to address the challenges faced by the youth of Islamic nations.
The session also shed light on international agreements that ensure transparency among countries.
The speakers emphasized the need for raising awareness, law enforcement and youth empowerment, to address some of the problems that affect youth such as loss of education or jobs as a consequence of nepotism or corruption.
Three other workshops and debate sessions for participants were held following the opening workshop.
Consultant and self-development trainer Khalid al-Muhannadi, who moderated the workshop, said that the workshop aimed to remind the current generation gave an overview of some models of governance at the United Nations.
The second workshop discussed the sound management of human and financial resources in youth institutions while the third focused on integrity and the promotion of a culture of denouncing corruption.
