Ministry of Public Health cautions against 'high protein' chocolate bars
Qatar's Ministry of Public Health (MoPH) has asked the public to avoid buying 'high-protein' chocolate bars online or through other sources not authorized by the relevant bodies in Qatar.
'High protein' chocolate bars do not meet halal requirements and these products differ in composition from the Mars, Bounty, Snickers and Milky Way products available in the domestic market, the Ministry announced yesterday.

The 'protein' chocolates contain protein from non-halal sources and are not imported by an authorized dealer in Qatar, the statement added.
The Ministry said that this announcement comes in response to what has been raised in social media in this regard.

Halal requirements in imported foods are confirmed by certificates from accredited centers and through special laboratory analysis, the Ministry said.
As a precautionary measure, the Ministry said it has directed its inspectors to ensure that the markets are free from such items.
It has also ordered the ports in the country to bar the entry of such products even if they are in non-commercial quantities.

"But can we say that everything on sale here can be considered halal?" Good question @ dph_poenja... I for one know that the answer is a resounding NO!
Begs the question, just how are the authorities monitoring (or ensuring?) the halal status of all the food stuff being imported into Qatar. I see most a lot of goods on sale are without any halal certification logos.
I understand that by default all food is halal unless there is a "haram" ingredient or method mixed in the preparation. But can we say that everything on sale here can be considered halal?
Thanks for the info. Is this true only on the type of chocolates that contain "protein" or "Hi protein" or just any chocolates manufactured by these companies. Please clarify.
