First team arrives in Doha for FIFA Club World Cup 2019
For football lovers in the country, this is is one of the most exciting months of the year, with the 24th Arabian Gulf Cup currently underway in Doha and the FIFA Club World Cup Qatar 2019 to follow in less than two weeks.
This is the first time the prestigious football tournament is being held in Qatar.
The highly-anticipated global club competition will see champions from each continent – Europe (Liverpool), South America (Flamengo), North and Central America and the Caribbean (C.F. Monterrey), Africa (ES Tunis), Oceania (Hienghene Sport), Asia (Al Hilal) – as well as host nation champions Al Sadd, compete in Qatar for the title of best football club in the world.

Hienghene Sport, winners of this year’s Oceania Football Confederation (OFC) Champions League, are the first to arrive in Doha for the FIFA Club World Cup Qatar 2019.
The team from New Caledonia will open the tournament on December 11 at Jassim Bin Hamad Stadium when they face the Qatari champions and FIFA Club World Cup host nation representatives, Al Sadd SC.
Hienghene Sport became the first New Caledonian side to win the OFC Champions League and qualify for the FIFA Club World Cup, and only the second non-New Zealand side to do so.
This is also the first time a senior New Caledonian side – club or country – has competed in a global football tournament.
The team is based in Hienghène, a remote part of New Caledonia with a population of just 2,500, five hours away from the country’s capital, Noumea.

The FIFA Club World Cup Qatar 2019 will run until December 21.
In its current format featuring seven teams, the FIFA Club World Cup Qatar 2019 will consist of eight matches.
The semi-final of the tournament is set to take place at the Education City Stadium which will mark its official opening on December 18.
The matches will be played at three venues: Jassim Bin Hamad Stadium, Khalifa International Stadium and Education City Stadium.

Tickets are priced in three categories, ranging from QR25 for Category 3 tickets for the first three match days, up to QR400 for Category 1 tickets for the double-header comprising the third-place play-off and final. Full details are available here.
Adding to the excitement of football enthusiasts in the country, the Supreme Committee for Delivery & Legacy (SC) announced earlier this week that ticket holders of the upcoming FIFA Club World Cup Qatar 2019 will be able to travel free-of-cost on the Doha Metro on match days.
Anyone with a printed match ticket will be eligible to collect a free standard class Day Pass from any Metro station on game days. Tickets will be available at any Metro station Gold Club office.
