An important concern of several married women working in Qatar is being able to continue work during and after pregnancy.

While each company may have different policies, some basic rules apply to all.

Here's what you need to know about maternity benefits in Qatar:

According to the Qatar Labor Law, expectant working women are entitled to maternity leave once they have completed one full year of work with the same employer.

Maternity leave will be approved with a medical certificate issued by a licensed physician stating the possible date of delivery.

Working women having a period of service not less than one year will get a fully paid leave for 50 days, including the period before and after birth, provided that the time for the delivery shall not be less than 35 days.

If the remaining days of leave after delivery are less than thirty days, complementary leave may be granted from the women employee's annual leave.

After 50 days, the working women may be absent with no pay for a period not exceeding 60 days.

It is important to note that the employer cannot terminate the contract with the female worker due to marriage or maternity leave.
