Here is a list of quarantine snacks which QL Recommends
If you're one like us and staying home by practicing social distancing to flatten the novel coronavirus (COVID-19) curve, we are sure you're looking for ways to keep yourself entertained.
We thought of sharing some of our team favorites!
Read up below to know which snacks some of our QL team members love and why so:
Shaun (Head of Content) recommends Pringles: salt & vinegar
I have always had a weakness for crisps. I don’t have them as often since I moved to Qatar, to be honest, purely because I’m always on the go. But this stay at home period has reminded me of how much I love Pringles! To be specific: Salt & Vinegar Pringles.
Now I know I can’t have them too often, so when I do it’s an absolutely treat, and boy do they have the most perfect tag line... once you pop, you can’t stop! I would gladly accept a lifetime supply of them. Thanks in advance Pringles!
Noor (PR and Marketing Manager) recommends Samosa
I usually get these fried goodies from the "samosa shops" spread around Doha in Old Airport, Madinat Khalifa, and Mansoura among others. These places sell nothing but freshly made samosas that are prepared in an artisanal manner.
However, I prefer the ones that my mom makes. They are flat, crispy, triangular but smaller and better than the typical Indian or Punjabi samosas which are big and quite heavy as they can be stuffed with starchy ingredients. My mom usually makes samosas with a chicken masala filling or chunks of cream cheese.
Basil (Video Producer) recommends Oman chips and Laban
One of my favorite snacks of all time since childhood is Oman Chips and Laban. The only way we Khaleej babies have it is by crushing the Oman Chips and mixing it in the Laban. IT might seem weird at first but I believe that it’s the only way we should be having Oman Chips as it turns into a tangy and irresistible concoction. This is definitely a cheap way to snack. You can even get it from any grocery/supermarket.
Ismat (Content Producer) recommends Spar’s Brownie Cookies
Spar's Brownie Cookies are one of the favorite quarantine snacks while binge-watching, and I love having these by dunking in milk. I stock up mine from Spar - Tawar Mall branch.
Rolan (Senior Video Producer) recommends Nagaraya Cracker Nuts
Nagaraya Cracker Nuts is a bag of Filipino-made breaded nuts that come in 5 magical flavors namely: Adobo, Original, Barbecue, Garlic, and Hot & Spicy. This snack reminds me of childhood memories: the time spent with my brothers and my sister or with my friends while watching TV or just chilling. It's also my go-to snack when I’m video editing at night. It’s so crispy that the cracking sound it makes keeps me awake. This goes well with any soda or fruit juice. If you're gonna try it, I suggest getting a big size because you'll find it very hard to stop munching.
Shafna (Content Creator) recommends Shawarma
Aroma Restaurant is located near Old Airport Road. If you are a Shawarma lover just like me, Aroma Restaurant has got you covered. The well-roasted chicken of the Shawarma paired with the right amount of salad and chips are lip-smacking good. One thing that is special about Aroma Restaurant is that they offer big-sized Shawarmas for a cheap price, at the same time keeping your tummy happy. Pair it with Karak Chai to make it even better.
Becca (Graphic Designer) recommends Fried Momos
There may be a thin line between snacks and meals for me, as one of my favorite food to snack on is Crispy Fried Momos! You can find these in almost any Indian and Nepali cafeterias and restaurants. I prefer mine spicy, as it makes every munch exciting. It’s so filling too, every plate is for sharing! In fact, I am craving for it as I am writing this… maybe it’s time to venture into my Talabat app and see what I can find.
