SCHOOLS - Primary & Secondary in DOHA
Pearling Season International British School
Pearling Season International School (PSI) opened its doors for the first time in September 2014. Since that time the school has grown and currently operates from Early Years (Preschool and Reception) through to Key stage 5 (Year 12). The school is centrally located in Doha, between two of the ring roads affording easy access.
The vision of our school drives what we do and we are committed to developing and supporting all our learners to be the leaders of tomorrow. Everything we do within the school and through our curriculum is driven by our core values of love, empathy, discipline and respect. This is what drives us as a school and is what is visible in the learning and teaching that happens every day.
PSI School is fully accredited by both Cambridge and Edexcel International Examination awarding bodies. The school teaches the British National Curriculum, which is further enhanced by the Edexcel iPrimary curriculum at the Primary level and the Cambridge and Edexcel Secondary Curricula at the Secondary level. Cambridge and Edexcel Lower Secondary curriculum programmes offer a flexible curriculum that is developed to suit our students’ needs. There is a curriculum framework for each subject – English, English as second language, Mathematics and Science-providing a clear teaching structure. Each curriculum framework is designed to engage learners in an active and creative learning journey. In Years 10 and 11, the school follows Cambridge and Edexcel IGCSE Examinations.
The school also teaches the local Qatari Arabic National Curriculum to all learners up to IGCSE where IGCSEs are taken in Arabic and Islamic Studies.
The majority of teaching staff are recruited from the UK and Ireland, with Arabic and French subjects being taught by suitably qualified native speakers. Our student body currently includes more than 52 nationalities, thereby ensuring a highly diverse and tolerant population.
PSI School offers a range of excellent facilities:
- Every classroom is equipped with an interactive whiteboard and Wi-Fi.
- Students have access to Windows tablets for in-class use.
- The school library is equipped with a variety of resources in different languages as well as digital texts.
- Sports facilities include a 4G AstroTurf football pitch and a covered swimming pool.
- Canteen facilities offering a delicious range of healthy food options.
- Recreational facilities include an Early Years outdoor play area.
We believe in using the local and national environment to support student learning, which is accommodated by a number of educational excursions throughout the year. The high point of this is ‘Week Without Walls’, which is a week where students take their learning outside the classroom to explore and connect with the wider world.
An extensive range of extra-curricular activities (ECA) is offered to students after school, most of which are free of charge. These include a Robotics Club, Film Club, Drama Club, Board Games Club, Chess Club and many more. Selected skill-enhancing activities are offered by external organizations for a small fee, such as Karate, Gymnastics and STEM.
PSI School is one of the fastest growing schools in terms of enrolment and has developed a reputation for excellence in Doha.
