The number of workers has been increased at public beaches. This is in addition to placing more trash containers to encourage beach-goers to maintain cleanliness. The Ministry will also carry out awareness campaigns to educate the public about hygiene.
Assistant Undersecretary for Environmental Affairs Hassan Jumaa Al Muhannadi, underlined some of the steps taken to ensure the safety of the visitors at beaches.
In several meetings, MME discussed at length with competent authorities a plan to tackle any emergency during this period, Al Muhannadi pointed out.
Environmental inspectors have been assigned to control and direct the public to swimming places and determine the requirements for horse riding, he said.
There will be security points at the entrances and exits of beaches to make sure the precautionary measures are applied. These include the wearing of face masks, adhering to social distancing, and having the Ehteraz App.
MME will ensure these safety measures with the cooperation of the Lekhwiya personnel.
Additionally, ambulances will be deployed in coordination with Hamad Medical Corporation.
Director of the Natural Reserves Department at the Ministry of Municipality and Environment Saleh Hasan Al Kuwari highlighted that the Ministry has coordinated with the Coast Guard and other security agencies to undertake rescue and observation operations for visitors at the beach. They will also monitor places designated for swimming, especially at the Maroona and Al Ghariya beaches.
Al Kuwari urged that all visitors at the beach must ensure cleanliness as the beaches belong to everyone. He said the Ministry will run awareness campaigns and hand out garbage bags to beach-goers as well.
Regarding the slaughterhouses, the Undersecretary for Municipal Affairs, Mansour Abdullah Al Mahmoud said the Ministry is well-prepared for this important religious and social event, particularly with the good results Qatar has achieved in overcoming COVID-19.
All preparations have been made at the slaughterhouses for the slaughter and handing over the meat safely to the public.
He mentioned that the number of health inspectors has been raised so that more can monitor inside and outside the slaughterhouses.
Moreover, the arrangements for the immediate disposal of slaughter waste have been made.
The slaughterhouses will remain open for the entire week from 5 am until 5 pm and will be supervised by specialized veterinarians.
MME also announced on its official Twitter handle that its Department of Public Hygiene has been conducting an intensive campaign to clean up the Eid prayer grounds in various areas across Qatar.
