Got My License Finally !
Hey Guys.....Finally got my Qatar Driving License today ....thanks to god.....
I just wanted to share my experience with you....I have my license in my home country and I am driving for the past 7 years ......
I enrolled here in a driving school, passed the computer and parking test in the 1 st attempt....This is not a big deal...
For parking test : Just follow the tricks taught to you by your trainer ....
There comes finally ROAD TEST -Really scary one.
My 1st Attempt : I was in a group of 3 members in road test car....I was the last guy to drive the car back to driving school....The Police officer was shouting too much and You see a tall guy shouting like that near you obviously you get frightened and my bad luck I dint pass the 1st attempt....
My 2nd attempt : Everything went fine but since I lost my 1st test I was too nervous for this 2nd test and yes to be frank after exiting the roundabout from 2nd gear I directly came to 4th gear which is accepted since the speed of car was above 50 , but not during test which led me to fail......
My 3rd attempt : My last last try.....Mentally I made my mind positive here since I have nothing to lose and I drove confidently which made me to pass the road test and get my license
Why i am sharing this in Qatar living ? Since I learnt others experience and thought I will share mine which will be helpful for others in future ...
My Tips:-
1. ADJUST SEAT,MIRROR AND PUT SEAT BELT
2.MOVE / STOP THE CAR SLOWLY
3.ALWAYS WATCH THE MIRRORS
4.INDICATORS MUST IN ROUNDABOUT AND NEVER DO TRACK CHANGE.
5.DURING PARKING ALWAYS BRING TO NEUTRAL AND THEN PUT HANDBRAKE FOLLOWED BY PARKING LIGHT.
MY LAST POINT : NEVER GET TENSE BY THE HARSH VOICE OF POLICE NEAR TO YOU ....JUST FOLLOW YOUR HEART , KEEP CALM AND DRIVE
ALL THE BEST!
'' glb '' You are not kind at heart ....... Think it over next 3 days .... ........
Molten Metal: Cars are not driven with philosophical ideas in mind.
basil911: My life and the life of others depend on good brakes when it comes to cars. I would never compromise safety and reliability just to save some Riyals. When it comes to Timing Belts, most originals come with a warranty of 80,000 kilometres. The non-original ones don't. Just for your information, if the timing belt snaps when the car is in speed, it will result in damages to several other things in the engine.
I would defer with goodlittleboy, I think its still ok to buy off-brand because some of them are still made with quality in mind.
White, Don't follow what ''glb '' has written in his essay .....
Point no 3 ....... Never ......... think bad about other innocent souls around you ........
3. ....... Keep yourself protected and think all other drivers on the road are blind or mad ......
'' glb '' Have pity on your soul ........ when you are on the road ...
When you will be one of those ..........Don't you never think ..... ?
That is great thanks for your comments surely will follow ....
Good and congratulations.
Now getting a driving license and driving on the roads are two different things especially if you are coming on the road for the first time. There are certain things that you must always keep in mind:
1. Always keep a safe distance between your car and the car ahead of you.
2. While all people who drive do hold a driving licence, you will find there are still several who drive carelessly.
3. Be a defensive driver. Keep yourself protected and think all other drivers on the road are blind or mad.
4. There will be times when you will be mad at someone on the road. Keep your calm. Switch the A/c to maximum and cool down.
5. Don't over speed. It will not just get you a penalty but you will risk your life and the life of others.
6. Maintain your car regularly. Your tyres and brakes must always be good condition.
7. You will still need some weeks before you develop road confidence.
8. Lastly, there are certain spare parts where you should not go for non-originals (known as Tejari here). They include brakes, fan belts, timing belts, wheel bearings to name a few.
Enjoy safe driving!
