Buying 2nd Hand SUV

Good day everyone!

I'm having doubts and dilemmas on buying a 2nd hand SUV. My choices are Mitsubishi Pajero 3.8L (2015 model or higher), Nissan Xterra (2015 model), Mitsubishi Montero Sport (2016 model or higher).

Which of these SUV's have good value for money and reliable? Easy to maintain and durable? It's gonna be my first time buying a 2nd hand car and i have lots of doubts. I will be using it mainly as a family car and i will not do off-roading. Im looking for an SUV with good ride height and fairly spacious interior and if possible 7-seater vehicle. The Xterra seats 5 people but it feels big for its SUV class. Personally im into choosing Xterra as a 2nd hand vehicle and i've tested one myself and it feels good to drive and also 2nd hand xterra are not that expensive (plus also for Nissan's reliable aircondition.) I have't tried pajero or montero though but i've seen so much of these SUV on the road.

A lot of people say it's ok to buy a 2nd hand car in Qatar if i know how to check the vital or important things on it. Can you guys help me out? BTW, my budget is around 40k-50k 2nd hand car with LOW mileage... im not considering more than 60-70k mileage.

Thanks!

Since your research says that Xterre is a good one and you also have an inclination for this car, suggest you go for it. You can also go for a Toyota Prado if you can lay your hands on one and if it is a good condition. The kilometer readings may not be accurate though as some sellers tinker with it. You may check Qatar Living car section for sellers.

Thanks for the info! Yeah im only looking for 2nd hand cars from private owners and not the ones from car dealers. It's price is also negotiable.

Regarding car mechanics, i know some friends who knows where to find the good ones. So i guess it won't be a problem for me. The only thing i want to know is which if these cars from my choices are reliable and has good performance. Based from my research it seems like Xterra has good reputation as 2nd hand vehicle and the engine performance is very good. Are there other SUVs that are good overall as 2nd hand car compared to my choices and same price bracket?

If you are going for a car in Qatar, Toyota stands out over all others. Toyota has the advantages that the spare parts are cheaper than other car brands, the cars have a resale value, and there are many parts where you can find non-original ones (locally known as "tejari"). Also, even original spares can be purchased from several outlets and not just from the agents.

Next in line is the Nissan. You can go for any of the models. It too has a market value but lower to that of Toyota. Try to avoid Mitsubishi as the spare parts are costly and most of them are available with just the agents. Mitsubishi does not have a good resale value.

If you know about cars or know of a good mechanic, you can go for a second-hand car. Keep in mind buying a second-hand car from unknown sources is always a blind-buy. People won't tell you of the problems of the car they are selling out. This is especially true with second-hand car dealers. It is advisable to buy one from someone who is leaving Qatar for good especially if he has been the first owner of the vehicle.

Trust this helps.

Do you mean the Xterra is a better option? Is the maintenance of Nissan Xterra better than Mitsubishi Pajero? Any issues i should be worried about? Thanks in advance!
