Jassim Al Kuwari rides Monopoly to victory in Longines Hathab Qatar Equestrian Tour dressage competition 8th round
Jassim Al Jaham Al Kuwari, riding on his mount Monopoly, claimed the top prize in the eighth round dressage competition of the Longines Hathab Qatar Equestrian Tour supported by The Social and Sport Contribution Fund on Saturday.
In all, 24 riders participated in the competition which was held at the Qatar Equestrian Federation’s indoor arena.
Al Kuwari topped the Medium (Level 1) competition on his gelding bay tallied a cumulative score of 68.569 points to collect valuable points and a prize of QR4,950.
Maryam Ahmed Al Semaitt on dark bay Rhythm finished second (66.463pts) while Asma Yasser Mohammed on Leslie Ann 2 (64.756) was third.
For his part, Ghanem Nasser Al-Qadi, riding on the horse Andreas, scored 74,348 points to claim first place in the second level competitions which involved the participation of 19 riders. Muhammad Salem Al-Marri with the horse Green scored 73,261 points to emerge second while Maryam Ahmed Al Semaitt finished third with her horse Special Edition 19 tallying 70,870 points.
Omar Al Mannai, Vice-Chairman, Organizing Committee Longines Hatha and Abdullah Al Marri, Chairman of the Future Knights Committee honoured the podium finishers of the two events.
Al Mannai said that the competition has achieved the goal of its establishment which is to help discover many talents in the equestrian sports.
He added that registration is open to all riders of all ages who are interested in participating in the tournament.
“The dressage championship is seeing an increased participation and Longines Hathab has become a breeding ground for young riders as registration continues throughout the season,” Al Mannai said.
He also said that the association between Al Shaqab and Qatar Equestrian Federation in organizing year-round dressage competitions has encouraged many young riders in the country.
“We seek to make the equestrian league one of the best in the Arab world. We would like to see more Qatari riders and parents are encouraged to enroll their children at Al Ittihad or Al Shaqab for competitive horse riding training,” added Al Mannai.
