HH the Amir directs allocation of $500 million grant for Gaza reconstruction

Building on Qatar’s consistent support for Palestine, His Highness the Amir Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al Thani has directed allocating a financial grant of $500 million for the reconstruction of the Gaza Strip.

The grant is aimed at supporting the brotherly Palestinian people in the besieged Gaza Strip to deal with the challenges inflicted by the recent Israeli attacks, Qatar News Agency (QNA) reported.

The financial support also seeks to facilitate the reconstruction of service facilities in Gaza, particularly in the areas of health, education and electricity. It is also meant to support the rebuilding of houses devastated by the attacks.

Qatar spared no time in offering its support to Palestine following the Israeli attacks earlier this month.

The Gulf State not only voiced its strong condemnation of the attacks on several occasions but many individuals and organizations have been extending humanitarian aid to alleviate the suffering of the affectees in Palestine.

Qatar Red Crescent Society (QRCS) launched a QR60 million fundraising campaign for Palestine recently. The project follows QRCS's emergency response to the attacks in Gaza, Al-Quds, and several other cities in the West Bank and hopes to help 593,000 Palestinians.

Earlier, Qatar Charity (QC) also announced the allocation of $5 million in relief aid for those affected and displaced in the Gaza Strip, West Bank and Jerusalem.

QC relief teams in Palestine have been providing urgent aid to the affected families in conjunction with the Ministry of Social Development. The support is aimed at meeting the urgent humanitarian needs of the Palestinian people in light of the tough ongoing humanitarian crisis.
