Meteorology Department forecasts cold spell below 8 degrees Celsius this week

The Qatar Meteorology Department has predicted a cold spell this week in Qatar. The forecast is expected to show temperatures that drop to below eight degrees Celsius in remote areas of the country.

This winter season has proved to be the coldest winter in Qatar so far, with a northwesterly wind blowing in a lot of scattered rain and chilly winds at the same time. Abdul Aziz Al Hamidi, the weather forecaster at Qatar Meteorology Department of General Authority of Aviation, attributed the unstable Qatar weather to scattered rain, thundercloud, and strong wind.

Al Hamidi also quotes that the weather is anticipated to drop below eight degrees in Northern and other remote places in Qatar.  

In a tweet by the department, the forecast predicts winds to start from early morning from January 18 till the next week and will be spreading to other areas. This will in turn blow dust everywhere and cause low visibility in several places. The sea wave offshore is also expected to rise by more than 10 feet.

The department urges people to avoid any types of sea activities and stay tuned to all weather updates from official forecast channels.

The Civil Aviation Authority recorded a temperature of 17 degrees Celsius on January 18 in Ghuwayriyah and Karana. The weather was 18 degrees at Ruwais, Shahniyah, Jumayliya, and Dukhan on the same day. Moderate areas such as Doha Airport, Hamad Airport, Abu Samra, Qatar University, Mukaynis, and Messaied faceD 19 degrees Celsius.
