Celebrate National Sports Day with Sports Activities at Education City Free of Charge!
It is that time of the year when people of Qatar come together to promote and encourage embracing an active and healthy lifestyle via a plethora of physical activities outdoors. Every year, on the second Tuesday of February, Qatar celebrates National Sports Day which is a national holiday. The government of Qatar actually requires that both public and private entities organize sports events. Because of precautionary measures for Covid-19, the number of sports events is reduced and the most prominent that is going to take place is at Education City in Al Rayyan.
This year, Qatar Foundation has organized many activities that await you at Education City - Al Rayyan. The activities will be held at different locations in Education City, the Ceremonial Court, the Oxygen Park, Mutlaqa (Student Centre), and the Green Spine. To register, you can download the Education City app through the Apple App Store or the Google Play Store.
Did you know that the National Sports Day is also a car-free day at the Education City? This is an initiative to adopt a greener lifestyle to help reduce carbon emissions. So, during National Sport Day cars will not be allowed to enter. But no worries, Education city has two Metro stations and a tram inside the area, and you won’t have to worry about reaching the location and moving inside the Education city to different locations.
When: 8th February 2022, from 8 AM till 5 PM.
Covid- 19 precaution: All participants are required to be fully vaccinated and have a Green Ehteraz. If unvaccinated or under 12, participants must show proof of negative COVID-19 rapid antigen test done within 24 hours before the event.
