Winter Wonderland is coming to Qatar!
With the world’s greatest football tournament set to take place in Qatar, a number of other exciting things are also coming with it. Most people are aware of the Winter Wonderland in the UK that has been running successfully for the last fifteen years, but did you know that Qatar did have a winter wonderland very close to it? It was the Riyadh Winter Wonderland that first gained extreme popularity when it was first set in 2019.
2022 is a year of fun, historic and exciting additions to the country, and Qatar’s very own winter wonderland is one of them! Hailed as Lusail Winter Wonderland, the mega entertainment attraction will be located in Al Maha Island. Investment Holding Group IHG introduced Al Maha Island as the latest entertainment and leisure destination that will transform Qatar tourism. The island is within Lusail City near Place Vendôme mall and linked to the mainland via a causeway. In conjunction with Qatar Tourism Authority, Elegancia, an IHG affiliate, and IMG are leading the world-class project.
Lusail Winter Wonderland is a place for all, open and accessible to everyone. There will be rides and attractions for all - from tiny tots to adults! With 1.5 million people expected to visit Lusail Winter Wonderland annually, the world-class theme park is set to be an important leisure destination that will contribute significantly to attracting regional tourists and enhancing the tourism and entertainment experience in Qatar.
The amusement park will be jam-packed with festive fun, over 50 rides and attractions, delicious food and drinks and live entertainment. Ooredoo, pioneer of high-speed mobile internet, has announced it is to be one of the main sponsors of the upcoming Lusail Winter Wonderland leisure attraction. One immediate outcome of this new synergy is that a rollercoaster attraction will be named as The Ooredoo 5G.
Lusail Winter Wonderland is led by the association of Estithmar Holding in collaboration with Qatari Diar and Qatar Tourism. It will be managed and operated by IMG, a global leader in events and media and the producer and operator of London’s famous Hyde Park Winter Wonderland and owner of other major global events.
Lusail city also known as Qatar’s Future City is a planned city that will have marinas, modern residential areas, island resorts, commercial districts, luxury shopping, and leisure facilities, a golf course community, man-made islands, and several entertainment districts. Currently, Lusail City represents a modern alternative to The Pearl, Qatar where rental prices are slightly more affordable but the wondrous features never cease to amaze.
