Gift Shed's new sister brand 'Dalu', launches debut collection in collaboration with Qatari Artist Mubarak Al-Malik
Dalu, Gift Shed's new sister brand, unveiled its exclusive debut collection, in collaboration with Qatari Artist Mubarak Al-Malik, during a launch event at the Mondrian Doha on September 13, 2023. The event, highlighted the limited edition works of art by Mubarak that will be on display for the public at the Mondrian Doha during a week-long exhibition starting September 14, 2023.

Created in celebration of Dalu’s brand launch, each piece is meticulously hand painted and mirrors Mubarak’s signature style which includes the use of a battoulah (a golden mask used by Qatari women to cover their face) in a vibrant mix of modern colours. The pieces on exhibit are available for sale and comes with a certificate signed by Mubarak making for a unique keepsake.
The pieces in Dalu's debut collection include the framed battoulah, nesting dolls, tote bags, notebooks and more all artfully designed just for you.

Speaking to Qatar Living at the launch event, Co-Founder of Gift Shed and Dalu, Hema Pathak Vara said, “We are excited to be launching this new sister company of Gift Shed that will be focusing on artist collaborations and doing more of the work that we started with Gift Shed, which is creating an ecosystem of artisans and artists and creating beautiful collections.”
With a vision to ignite collaboration, amplify culture and nurture creators, Dalu has taken on the ambitious task of providing a platform for local artists and provide a deeper understanding of Qatar’s rich creative and cultural landscape.
To launch its debut collection, Dalu collaborated with award winning artist Mubarak Al-Malik who is renowned for his graffiti style art and iconic murals around Doha. Paying homage to the traditional golden face cover cherished by his grandmother, the battoulah stands at the heart of this collection seamlessly blending tradition and contemporary elegance.
