Hi - I am am an English woman visiting Doha for a week, I arrive on a weekend so my friend will be able to show me around a little but during the week she is working so I am on my own!

Can anyone recommend some good things to do/see..I am a little wary of going places alone so they need to be safe ideas! I know there is the museum of Islamic art, the corniche and the Malls..any other good places? I love horse riding so would be really interested in seeing some Arabian horses..

Do you need to be in a hotel to spend the day at the beach?

Any suggestions would be appreciated - thanks!

day out, go to the Four Seasons. I am not sure what the price is, but I do believe you can get a day membership which allowes you use of the Spa facilities, beach and pool - its really lovely.

They also serve afternoon tea, which is delectable.

Souq Waqif, Malls, hiring a car and taking a drive around Qatar - keep to the paved road and you cannot get lost, all roads lead back to Doha eventually:-)

Hopefully your friend can get a day off at some stage, then head down to Sealine Beach Resort for the day. They have camels and horses there too, but usually just rides.

Hope this helps:-)

Go to the Qatar Racing and Equestrian Club (end of October there is racing on Wed and Thurs). The Equestrian Federation is right next to it. You can also try to get a tour of Al Rayyan Farms

http://www.alrayyanfarm.com/indexFlashTrue_main.php

Send me a private message. My husband has some free time and has done some work at the race track if you'd like to visit some stables. :)

When are you going to be here?

Going to the Pearl Qatar is a must. There are lots of shopping stores and cafe there. It also got some islamic designs/background,but at this weather It's not really good to stoll around at day time, around 5 p.m. onwards would be the best time.:)

If for malls: Villagio would be the best choice. It got Gondola rides(It's kinda gives you the feeling of being in Venice.)

And If you got time...going to Missaed would also be a great place to go to. It got the Sealine beach and you can go sandune ride(exciting) and lots of fun in the sand.:D

Souq Waqif is a good place for hanging out + it's structure is well preserved from the "old souq" (so,you will kinda have a hint about the way Qatar originally looked like. You can also look for stalls that make "Henna Art" Arabian lady got the best skill in designing your hand.:D (It's a real must to have henna art in your hand)

Enjoy your week here!:D Just email me if you want more info. Good Luck!:D

Hi Livvy,

I wont recommend you going to beach alone. Its not that safe and you might get lost. Yeah, stick to hotels if you want to swim in beach or a pool.

Have you gone to souq waqif? Its an interesting place to go to or you can go walk along corniche but with this weather, you will burn yourself. Better do it early in the morning or early evening. Its quite nice there at night.
