What happened to Al Ghariya beach?

4 years back Al-Ghariya beach was among my favorite places in Qatar.

Last weekend I went over there with my family hoping to have a good day out, but unfortunately the beach is in terrible condition. Not only it is quite dirty, there was a bad smell allover and none of us felt like going to the water even to touch. It really feels like a drainage line was released in to the beach, with some others on beach were claiming that the drainage of the near-by resort is released on to the sea.

I was really saddened by the condition of this once-beautiful beach, and hope this would at least raise awareness among public and authorities to keep this beach clean.

If they are properly informed, I am sure that relevant authorities would take appropriate actions to restore the condition of this beach.

It’s not an issue with Sandstorm or global warming... Nothing can be related to the odour, other than contamination.

@drsam> yeah, unlike the city, its pretty good atmosphere there with no sandstorms and no gusty winds.. next time try to be away from the city, when its caught in sandstorm.

I dont think it has anything to do with global warming or the sand storm. It could be something related to the drainage of the resort as posted by OP.

maybe it's because of the sandstorm, and high winds. u did think of going to the beach, and barbecue in this wind?
