I noticed an old thread from last year about the im/practicalities of joining a rowing team in Doha. Has anything changed in the meantime? I should be arriving in Qatar in a few weeks and would love to get some boat time in, if that's at all possible...

Anybody know if there are any clubs one can join?

I know there are a couple of rowing boats at Qatar Sailing Club, next to the Marriott Hotel. When i inquired they told me it s only for the Qatari National Team, but i have seen western people practising, maybe with there own boats... Check it out to be sure.

Yeah, I guess that goes without saying - I was thinking more along the lines of artificial bodies of water, like Dorney Lake in the UK. If Doha can build an ice rink then I was hoping they had built a rowing lake as well!
