Ok. First let me say, the reason, Supernurse, that I posted this question was not to be a slag, as you so eloquently stated, but because, as proven by the thread below, there is conflicting information out there, and as all I have to go on is what I read on the internet, I thought I would ask those of you who live there, nationals and expats.
And to respond to someone further down(sorry, didn't memorize your name) no, my intentions for going to Doha are not of the "illicit" kind, but remember, I am from the U.S. and have lived a certain freedom that I am not going to have there. I have not lost sight of my intentions for moving... but have also not forgotten that I am a human who hasn't had these types of restrictions posed on me...ever.
And to respond to yet another post, the reason I was asking is because my boyfriend is looking into getting a job there as well, we don't want to get married for credit reasons, but wanted to know what things would be like if he should follow me.
So, lastly I would like to thank you all for your interesting perspectives, especially those that are not slanderous or judgmental, and would hope that the rest of you could realize that as someone just coming to a country that I hadn't even heard about until recently, I have a lot of questions. And yes, of course, always be respectful of the people, culture and ideologies of the country you are visiting, but always, always, always ask questions.
