the answer is simple. the old compaq Laptops were very good. when stupid HP bought Compaq they stopped the Compaq line and started the HP compaq line and than simply HP which is bad.
now what stupid HP did and for me its a big joke they relaunched the compaq laptop and 2nd breed in other words with low quality manufacturing.
my advise to you don't by either.
