If you are here on a visit visa then you can use it as long as your visit visa remains valid. If you are on a RP basis then just go to the Trafic Department offcourse with the required forms, photo and eye test and they will change your UAE drivers license in at the most 1/2 an hour I also got it the same way from UAE DL to Qatari DL when I arrived first a few years ago.
