having caught the Apple bug 4 years ago, i certainly would say go for the IPAD. but thats my bias.
having talked to some of my friends who have already pre ordered their ipad (in the US and UK), i would say that your choice between ipad vs wht ever else is out there would depend on wht your use is .. are u looking for a business tablet or entertainment etc etc.
